If you are expecting a package from UK, most probably they are just asking you to pay the tax for taxable goods.

Else, ask who the sender or it’s just a scam.

This could be true if you are waiting / are expecting for a parcel from UK.

If not this could be a scam.

If you are expecting a package & it has arrived in Malaysia & held by Custom then it may be true. You may have to pay Custom before you collect your package and always insist for a receipt.

No, they will send you a card saying that your parcel has been detain, you have to go to the custom office by yourself with that card and ic, open the parcel in front of the office, if that is a taxable item, you have to take your parcel and see other officer who estimate the cost of the parcel and calculate the amount of tax you need to pay, only after you pay the tax you are allowed to take it out of the premises, that is no such thing as you send some money and they send the parcel to you.
