Why does the fact that she is transgendered have any part in this? If she wasn’t trans, her appointment would barely be a blip on the political radar screen. The only question should be: Can she do the job?

If she is intelligent and capable perhaps she can show that gender reassignment isn’t an amusement at all, but a response to biological problems that can…and should be, rectified with the proper medical treatment.
At the very least, its at least as reasonable to pay for gender reassignment surgery, as it is to pay for Viagra for middle aged men.

No. She was not appointed to her job to influence congresses position of transgender health care.
What her appointment does do is show that people who suffer from transsexualism are every bit and normal, intelligent, and capable as anyone else. She deserves the position because she is qualified. Nothing more.

I don’t get the connection. She’s being hired because her expertise in military/aerospace procurement. And the problem with healthcare isn’t the Democrats, it’s the Do Nothing Republicans.
