hi friends, i am going saudi soon,i would like to know the problems faced in customs clearance?

by admin on January 31, 2010

i need to carry my laptop,i-pod , do i have to take bill with me?

i got some creams (because of skin allergy) which i have to take for one year , only prescription for one year from doctor and bills will be enough ?

lap top and ipod will be fine, noone is going to ask for bills or invoices, however you might want to erase on keep on separate media any material deemed to be judged offensive such as nudity.
for the medication, if it is just creams, keep the prescriptions as a precautionary measure.

I heard from people who traveled there to work that one had his leather coat taken as they were concerned that it may be pig leather! If you are carrying any religious things such as a bible or anything that could be construed as things with which to attempt to convert the population to Christianity or anything else, you could be in big trouble. Hint: Leave the package of porkrind snacks at home!

Laptop and iPod are ok, but remember to delete Porn or anything with nudity in it. they’ll probably won’t check your laptop but just in case. Also, Don’t bring alcohol with you, it’s illegal in Saudi Arabia. BE AWARE NOT TO BRING DRUGS AND WEED" MARIJUANA", Drug Traffickers are are treated like murderers and prosecuted here.

lol @ pig leather.. I grew up in USA and now live in saudi for 13years.. NOWHERE on earth have I heard of anyone making a coat out of pig leather.. thats just not common practice.. *note: I had to laugh hard at that one…

No they dont take your jacket thinking its pig leather.. besides.. in Islam.. the only ruling against pork is eating or injesting it.. like food or medicine.. anything else made out of pig is ok.. We muslims acknowledge that God made pigs.. GEEZ.. im sure they have a purpose on earth. and maybe can make useful items out of them.. just not for comsumption of food… so even if (although theres not) a pig leather jacket.. who cares.. no one is going to take it from you..

they only things you need to be concerned about is the content on your ipod or computer.. no nudity or sugestive porn.. no islamic political things.. no religious controvery things at all.. nothing related to terrorism or drugs etc.. no banned books.. ie: ebooks like christian things or books about the saudi royal family..

creams and lotions are normal everyday items.. if you are in doubt, bring a prescription note with you. more than likely you have to first clear your own countries customs about carryone stuff than what to do when you get here.. international flights now ban some liquid products, so you need to check with your own carrier/flight rules first off..

also we have modern pharmacies here that are built on US standards, you can find any product here you need..

Mostly all the answers are correct except about the coat of Pig’s leather. No one is going to check the material of your coat. Officials never create problems unnecessary. Visit with a smiling face because you from India and always try to maintain the image of Indians with your conduct and work both.
All the best
