The incentive question is key here. Mexican politicians (of all parties) utilize emigration as a substitute for real economic reform. Why take tough, controversial and potentially unpopular decisions for the good of the Mexican economy when it’s much easier to just export the people?"

By the way, I have no problem with those who come legally under immigration laws designed to protect our schools and services. I just am against the recent mass illegal immigration.

Fox’s government is NOT in the business of "promoting emigration," that is just the typical anti-Mexican propaganda of ignorant and usually racist Americans.
The actual crime of Fox and his government is their weak "knee-jerk" reactions regarding anything to do with the subject of illegal Mexican emigration or the US’s response to it. This is in response to the hostile anti-Americanism that spews from the left-dominated news media here. Fox, supposedly a "conservative," is so terrified by adverse public opinion that he will literally do and say anything that he thinks the media want him to say. Of course this never works because they hate HIM as much as they hate the United States.
His weakness makes him look like an anti-American promoter of illegals in the US and a "running dog lackey of Gringo Imperialism" here in Mexico. (Proving once again that those who "stand for nothing" will "fall for anything.")
What YOU Americans seem to completely fail to understand is that almost all of Mexico’s problems would have been well underway to resolution after the six years of Zedillo and another six of Fox. Mexico has seen HUGE advances in economic stability, industrialization, democracy, building of infrastructure, media independence and power, reduction of crime and corruption, and so on. All of these advances have either been or are being destroyed completely by the ALL OUT WAR currently being waged against our country by the American Illegal Drug Consumers and their agents and servants here and in the United States, the International Drug Cartels!
This war has consumed ALL the extra revenues from taxes and petrolium income, it has almost destroyed the newly flourishing Mexican free press, it has turned back ALL the huge advances made in combatting corruption, it has destroyed the newly free political structures in all affected areas and it has brutally murdered THOUSANDS of our best, most honest and brightest: police officers and chiefs, federal and state prosecutors, politicians, judges, reporters and editors. Worse yet, it has finally begun even to corrupt the one shining jewel in Mexico’s crown, its incredibly efficient, well-trained and beloved armed forces.
Because of the insatiable American appitite for illegal drugs which your own government is either too weak, too lazy or too corrupt to deal with, the nation of Mexico today stands on the brink of oblivion.
All the money, the resources, the energy that we need to build the country up to provide for our desparate poor, to provide them with education, training, opportunities, investment in the country and the infrastructure. In short the resources we need to invest to stop the emigration surge, is currently ALL being pissed down the rat-hole just trying feebly to stop YOUR tens of millions of addicts and users from getting their fix!
It is NOT OUR PROBLEM it is YOURS!
If you Americans do NOT stop YOUR epidemic of illegal drug use in your country, (you currently consume 80% of all illegal drugs in the WORLD) then you will quite soon destroy the nation of Mexico, and guess what? WE ARE NOT GOING DOWN THE SHITHOLE ALONE!

A tougher U.S. immigration policy would reduce that escape hatch and might force Mexican politicians to face reality. Elected politicians in any country (including the U.S.) have trouble facing reality unless they are forced to do so.
What about the billions of dollars in remittances sent from Mexicans in the United States back to Mexico? According to Ortiz, they function as a safety valve for Mexican families, but they aren’t a key lubricant of the Mexican economy.
This fits in with a recent analysis of Alfonso Sandoval, of the United Nations Population Fund. According to Sandoval, remittances do not translate into real incentives for productive economic development in the receiving regions.
In the case of Mexico, the evidence indicates that Mexicans who receive remittances are more likely to want to emigrate than those who do not. Remittances don’t solve the basic economic problems in Mexico — they postpone their resolution.
I too agree that legal immigration is a help to this country ,but illegals are and always will be detrimental to our nation as a whole.Make sure your vote in November tells the US government what the American people want.
No blanket amnesty,make our borders secure,stop the endless flow of illegals into this country.

I agree they should stay there and build that country, especially since American businesses are opening there and all the low pay jobs are being moved to Mexico, Honduras, India, China, Pakistan. Soon the only jobs in America will be management jobs, which Mexicans can’t fill without a college degree and fluent English. In fact, Mexicans and Americans may have to eventually speak India or Chinese dialects!
But on the other hand, with the threat of World Islam on the rise and Muslims legally moving into this country and establishing Mosques and eventually trying to convert America, I tend to favor haveing 12 million new Christian Catholics coming into America, giving America a FIRM Christian majority, even though I’m not a Catholic.
Maybe with all the Catholics in the schools demanding Catholic prayers and such, the Bush Protestants and Muslims will feel a little fear and maybe we can start getting back firm separation of church and state so we don’t eventually end up an Islamic nation in 300 years.
These new Catholics would boost that relgion from 20% to 25% and eventually to 1/3 the country.
A little religious tug of war might bring sensibility back to the masses.
