You don’t tell us where (city, country, etc) that this employee works. Therefore, we have no clue.
Even inside of the USA, there are wide variations of salaries for the same employee doing the same job based on location.

You do not get what you deserve or what the market pays, but what you negotiate.
I recommend not limiting yourself to that position, but ask what are your talents worth in the job market and ask for that money.
Never accept their first offer – always ask for a little more. If not in money then vacation time.
